LLANDARCY FUTSAL CLUB who play in the FAW National futsal league continued their preparation for the coming season with a tough match against GLOUCESTER UNIVERSITY at the House of Sport on Sunday. It was Llandarcys first opportunity to test themselves against opponents playing in the English National League.
The visitors started off the brighter, taking the lead within 5 mins following some sloppy passing from Llandarcy, but the scores were then level 3 minutes later. Llandarcy then started defending well and took a foothold in the game and took the lead. Glouceseter always looked dangerous and they had a young squad which had good fitness levels coupled with good technical ability.
Llandarcy then extended their lead to 4-1 which was the score at half time.
The second half was a different story where Glouceser came flying out of the traps and matches Llandarcys physical presence. The visitors seemed to up their workrate and seemed cause more problems for llandarcy and slowly clawed their way back into the game within a 12 minute period of the game. With the match looking like it was heading for a 5-5 draw Gloucester hit Llandarcy with a sucker punch and took the lead with just 50 seconds left on the clock. Llandarcy had one final chance at the buzzer with a free kick but were unable to penetrate the Gloucester wall.
Llandarcy travel to Cardiff once again this Sunday where they have a double headed fixture against another English National league outfit Salisbury and then Cardiff City deaf.
